Chief Minister M.K. Stalin virtually inaugurated from Chennai an Industrial Training Institute (ITI) at Suriyagoundampalayam near Tiruchengode on Monday.
Adi Dravidar Welfare Minister M. Mathiventhan, who inspected the ITI, said that in March 2025, the Chief Minister announced 10 ITIs, including one in Tiruchengode. On June 10, a government order was released in this regard.
The ITI offers four courses– mechanic – electric vehicle (two-year course), drone pilot- junior (six-month course), sewing technology (one-year course) and wireman (two-year). Of the 24 sanctioned seats for electric vehicle mechanic, all are filled. Out of 40 seats for sewing technology, 28 are filled and all 20 seats sanctioned for wireman courses are filled. Of the total 132 seats for the ITI, 72 are filled.
The maximum age limit for male candidates is 40, and there is no age limit for female candidates. Students admitted to the ITI are eligible for monthly educational assistance of ₹750, free uniforms, shoes, bicycles, books, and equipment.
The courses are offered free of cost, and accommodation is available at a nearby government hostel with food for students coming from far away places.
For admission, the candidates should approach the ITI with a class VIII or X marksheet, community certificate, transfer certificate, Aadhaar card, ₹50 for the application form, ₹185 as admission fee for a one-year course, ₹195 for a two-year course and five passport-size photographs. After the training period, the candidates will get jobs with a salary of ₹8,000 to ₹12,000 a month, the Minister added.
District Collector Durgamoorthi, MP V.S. Matheswaran, MLA E.R. Eswaran and officials from departments concerned also participated.
