Kerala local body polls: first-level check on EVMs completed

The first-level check on the electronic voting machines (EVM) for the 2025 local body elections has been completed, the State Election Commission said on Tuesday.

The Electronics Corporation of India has completed the check on 1,37,922 ballot units and 50,693 control units owned by the commission, State Election Commissioner A. Shajahan said.

The EVMs are kept in the strong rooms in the districts. Around 1,000 officers trained by 29 engineers of the Electronics Corporation of India inspected the machines across 21 centres. Mr. Shajahan said the check took one month to complete.

The commission had announced that the final voters’ list for the elections would be published on August 30.
