
School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi serves breakfast to a student of Boiler Plant Aided Middle School in Koothaipar Town Panchayat in Tiruchi district on Tuesday.
As many as 13,446 students of 112 schools in Tiruchi district would benefit from the expansion of the Chief Minister’s Breakfast Scheme to aided primary schools in urban areas.
With this, 80,129 students from 1,317 government and aided schools across the district are now being provided with breakfast. The scheme was initially launched for students from classes 1 to 5 in Corporation schools and gradually expanded to primary schools in other urban and rural areas.
After Chief Minister M. K. Stalin inaugurated the expanded scheme in Chennai, Minister for Municipal Administration K. N. Nehru and Minister for School Education Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi served breakfast to students at a few schools in Tiruchi here on Tuesday.
Collector V. Saravanan, Mayor M. Anbazhagan, Corporation Commissioner V. Madhubalan, District Revenue Officer R. Rajalakshmi and other officials joined the Ministers.
In Thanjavur, Minister for Higher Education Govi.Chezhiaan, who had breakfast along with students at a primary school at Aduthurai Town Panchayat, said the scheme now benefited a total of 61,020 students from 1,255 schools in the district.
In Pudukottai, the scheme would now cover an additional 3,121 students from 19 aided schools, taking the total number of beneficiaries to 73,695 students from 1,418 schools in the district. Minister for Natural Resources S. Reghupathy and Minister for Backward Classes Welfare Siva V. Meyyanathan inaugurated the expanded scheme in the district.
Transport Minister S.S.Sivasankar inaugurated the serving of breakfast at a school in Ariyalur. The expanded scheme was inaugurated by Collectors in other central districts.
