About 300 horses, including 60 2-year-olds, will take part in the 30-day Chennai racing season to be held between August 30 and March 14, 2026, according to a Madras Race Club release on Thursday.
The advertised stake money offered will be ₹14.77 crore plus trophies valued at ₹36.40 lakh covering 186 races excluding divisions. The total payout will be of ₹17.99 crore including division and cups. Sixteen trainers and 30 jockeys will participate during the season.
Racing dates: August: 30; September: 6, 13, 20 and 27; October: 4, 10 (Coromandel Gromor Fillies Trial Stakes), 18, 24 (Coromandel Gromor Colts Trial Stakes), 31. November: 2, 8, 14 (Deepak Khaitan Memorial Guindy Gold Cup), 22 and 27; December: 5 (South India 1000 Guineas), 13 (South India 2000 Guineas), 20, 25 and 31. January 2026: 1 (South India Oaks), 13, 14 (South India Derby Stakes), 24, 30 (South India Sprinters Trial Stakes) and (South India Stayers Trial Stakes); February: 6, 15 (South India St. Leger), 21; March: 7 and 14.
