Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday urged his party’s MLAs and councillors to remain connected with the people and never compromise on their ideals, stressing that such commitment would give them another chance to serve Delhi after the next election.

The former Chief Minister was addressing elected representatives after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided the residence of Delhi AAP chief Saurabh Bharadwaj.

“I would tell you to be among the people. In the next election, you will get a chance at governance, but till then stay with the people,” Mr. Kejriwal said.

Accusing the BJP and Congress of being in a “nexus”, he said that while no senior Congress leader had been arrested in the National Herald case, five top AAP leaders had gone to jail. “The 2G and coal scam cases were shut down. People are asking about the BJP-Congress nexus. We entered politics out of love for the nation, not for compromise. Never compromise for the sake of party, power, yourself, or your family,” he told party members.

Criticising the BJP government’s first six months in the Capital, Mr. Kejriwal said people were complaining about frequent power cuts, fee hikes in private schools, broken roads, clogged sewers, and worsening living conditions for the poor. “When we were in power, there were no power cuts. Now, even in Lutyens’ Delhi, I face five outages a day,” he remarked.

Reacting to his statements, Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal hit back on X: “Kejriwalji: when you made allegations against politicians and were dragged to court, you apologised. Today, you make baseless allegations against the Gandhi family. Stop the bickering. Let’s fight the larger battle together.”

The BJP, meanwhile, accused AAP of neglecting governance for 11 years, claiming it was working to undo the failures of the Kejriwal administration.
