Rajkanwar Singh Sandhu shot 583 to win the 25-metre centre fire pistol gold in the 16th Asian shooting championship that concluded in Shymkent, Kazakhstan, on Friday.

Former World champion Ankur Mittal won the double trap gold, while the Indian women swept all the medals in double trap.

The 182-strong Indian team wound up with 99 medals, including 50 gold and 26 silver. Quite creditably 55 of those medals iwere individual medals.

Host Kazakhstan was second with 21 gold, 24 silver and 25 bronze. World leader in the sport China was third with 15 gold, 17 silver and five bronze. Korea followed fourth with 12 gold, 21 silver and 22 bronze, while 17 countries figured in the medals table, sharing the overall total of 325 medals.
