Traffic diversions to come into effect on Sunday in view of Vinayaga idol immersion

The city police will introduce several traffic diversions in view of the Vinayaga Chathurthi procession on Sunday. A large number of idols will be taken for immersion from various parts of the city.

The police asked the organisers to immerse the idols at the designated places – Srinivasapuram (Mylapore), Palkalai Nagar (Thiruvanmiyur), N4 fishing harbour (New Washermenpet), and Popular Weigh Bridge (Thiruvottiyur).

Vehicles proceeding from Triplicane to Santhome High Road will be diverted via Gandhi Statue, R.K. Salai (right turn), V.M. Street, Luz Junction,AmrutanjanJunction,D’Silva Road, Warren Road, Dr. Ranga Road (Right Turn), Bheemaana Garden Junction, C.P. Ramasamy Road (Left Turn), St. Marys Junction, Kaliyappa Junction, Srinivasa Avenue (Left turn), and R.K. Mutt Road.

Vehicles heading from Adyar to Santhome High Road will be diverted via R.K. Mutt road, Thiruvengadam Street (Left turn), V.K. Iyer Road Junction, Devanathan Street, St. Marys Road (Right Turn), R.K. Mutt Road (Left Turn), South Mada Junction, Venkatesa Agraharam Road (Left Turn), East Abiramapuram, Luz Avenue, P.S. Sivasamy Salai, Royapettah High Road, and Dr. R.K. Salai.

When the procession crosses Ratna Cafe junction, vehicles heading to the junction from Zam Bazaar Police Station will be diverted towards Jhan Jahani Khan road. Further, vehicles proceeding from Ice House junction to Ratna Cafe junction will be diverted via Besant Road and Kamarajar Salai or directed left towards GRH junction.

Commercial vehicles will be restricted in a 10-km radius across all the immersion points in the city.
