
State Transport, Youth, and Sports Minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy
Transport Minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy on Friday inaugurated an RO water plant and installed CCTV cameras at the Simhachalam Bus Station.
The Minister also presented commendation letters to RTC staff who had worked tirelessly during the Simhachalam ‘Giri Pradakshina’, ensuring maximum revenue for the RTC and preventing bus breakdowns en route.
Zone-I Executive Director K.S. Brahmananda Reddy, Visakhapatnam District Transport Officer B. Appala Naidu, Deputy Chief Traffic Manager G. Satyanarayana, and Simhachalam Depot Manager Sarat Babu were present at the event.
Earlier, addressing a media conference at MVP Bus Station, Mr. Ramprasad Reddy said the ‘Stree Shakti’ initiative, providing free transport for women in RTC buses and launched on August 15, has been a resounding success. He also announced that Andhra Pradesh would soon receive more new buses.
The Minister lauded the quick thinking of the driver and conductor of a Metro City bus, which caught fire due to a short circuit near the IV Town Police Station junction earlier in the day. Driver M. Ramesh and Conductor G.P. Saibaba alerted passengers and ensured their safety. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had also commended their presence of mind.
