The city witnessed a rare event on Sunday (August 31, 2025) as 138 pairs of identical twins and four sets of triplets from across the State gathered for a special meet-up and Onam celebrations. The occasion was the third annual meet of the All Twins Association (ATA), a platform that evolved from a social media group.

The attendance of the meet held at the Ernakulam Town Hall included people from various walks of life and different age groups. Ernakulam MP Hibi Eden inaugurated the meet in the presence of ATA office-bearers and film producer Badusha N.M.

Advaik S. and Anvaik S., the one-year-old sons of Suman and Susmitha from Palakkad, were the youngest twins at the meet. At 88, M.U. Krishnan and M.U. Raman from Ernakulam were the oldest participants.

The event also featured a celebrity attraction in Jivin Rex and Jinil Rex, twins known for their performance in the Saiju Kurup-starrer Bharathanatyam. The ATA was formed in 2018 by twins and triplets who had first come together as the All Kerala Twins Community (AKTC) on social media. “Over the years, the community has grown to include more than 800 pairs of identical twins and 10 sets of triplets as members. The group is very active and we have been organising meet-ups,” said ATA secretary Viswas Vavolil from Ranni in Pathanamthitta.

He said the main aim of the collective is to highlight the financial struggles faced by parents of twins and triplets in meeting educational and other expenses, and to draw the government’s attention to the challenge.
