Rains lashed J&K again in the last 12 hours and left three dead in a fresh occurrence of intense rainfall in Ramban district.

Preliminary reports suggested a cloudburst hit Gadgram pocket of Rajgarh area and damaged houses. Several structures remain under mounds of debris.

Locals said three persons died in the incident and the bodies were recovered. They feared two more were buried in the debris.

Officials have rushed teams to the spot to rescue the missing persons.

Over 40 people, including pilgrims, were killed in separate incidents of landslips, intense rainfall, and flash flooding in J&K in the past one week.

Torrential rains hit parts of J&K on Friday (August 29, 2025) night and Saturday (August 30, 2025) morning. Many rivers saw a rise in their levels. Several rivers, including Jehlum river and Tawi river, were flowing above danger mark but receded with the improvement in weather in the past two days.

The Meteorological department had predicted one or two spells of moderate to heavy rain at many places over Jammu, Kathua, Rajouri, Reasi, Doda, Samba and Udhampur in J&K. It had warned that intense showers may generate flash floods and landslips at few vulnerable places.
