Three held for attacking relative in a funeral ceremony

Police arrested three men including a history sheeter for allegedly attacking a relative at a funeral in Adambakkam. 

Police said S. Shanmugam, 43 of Gandhi Nagar, Adambakkam has been doing tile-laying works. After attending the funeral of his aunt on Friday morning, he was standing on Erikarai street, when his relative Daniel Joseph and two others picked up a quarrel over a family issue. The trio abused Shanmugam and attacked him using beer bottles and stones. They fled the scene as people gathered. 

Shanmugam who was injured has been admitted to a hospital. Based on his complaint, Adambakkam Police registered a case for offences including attempting to murder. On interrogation, police arrested Daniel Joseph, 24, Aravindan alias Amar, 19, and Bharat alias Kabali, 19 of Adambakkam. Police said Daniel Joseph is a history sheeter with eight previous criminal cases and the other two have a criminal case each against them.
