Four dies in car-truck head-on collision

Four people died in a car-truck head-on collision accident at Nenmeni near Paramakudi here on Sunday.  

Police said, a family – Govindaraj, 65, wife Jamuna, 55, daughter Roobini and son Saranraj, 30, along with driver Kaleeswaran, 28, – from Ramanathapuram, in their car, had gone to Courtallam.  

In the same route, a truck which went from Madurai towards Ramanathapuram, dashed into the car at Nenmeni.  

Subsequently, Jamuna, Roobini and Kaleeswaran in the car died on the spot. Govindarajan and Saranraj, with serious injuries were rushed to Paramakudi GH for first aid treatment and then to Government Rajaji Hospital for further treatment.  

While, Govindarajan succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, Saranraj is undergoing treatment.  

Three persons – Muthuraja, 23, Naganathan, 47, and Jayamala, 44 – in the truck, sustained injuries and were admitted to a hospital in Madurai.  

Paramakudi taluk police have registered a case and further investigation is underway.
