Empty TASMAC ‘liquor bottle return’ scheme to be implemented in Madurai South and North from September 1

In accordance with the Madras High Court Madurai Bench’s direction, empty liquor bottle return scheme is set to be implemented in TASMAC outlets in Madurai (South) and Madurai (North) from September 1.

The scheme is initiated to protect the environment and prevent customers from littering empty liquor bottles in public places, said a district administration’s press statement on Sunday.

It added, under the scheme, customers would pay an additional ₹10 per bottle when they purchase liquor from the outlets.

They can then return the empty bottles to the same TASMAC outlet to get their ₹10 back.
