Idols of Lord Vinayaka were taken out in a procession as part of the Vinayakar Chathurthi celebrations in Dindigul district, on Friday.

Idol of Lord Vinayaka was taken on a procession from Kudaiparaipatti by devotees for immersion at Kottaikulam in Dindigul. The procession passed off peacefully.

A large number of devotees, especially youth, took part enthusiastically in the procession.

A large number of police personnel had been deployed at key junctions and places along the route of the procession for security purposes and to ensure that there were no untoward incidents as there were bitter experiences in the past.

A huge posse of police personnel were posted in front of the Big Mosque at Begampur.

Later, the idols of Lord Vinayaka were immersed in a tank near Kottaikulam, the designated place for immersing the idols.

Hindu Munnani cadres took out a procession in Dindigul. A total of 50 Lord Vinayaka idols were taken out in a procession by the functionaries and later immersed in the tank.
