Electricity department staff restore power supply after car hits poles in Chromepet

Electricity supply was restored in New Colony of Chromepet after several hours of disruption caused by snapping of overhead power lines, after a car rammed into and uprooted five concrete electricity poles on 16th cross street on Saturday night. 

A senior official of the electricity department said, soon after the accident, maintenance staff cut off the power supply in localities including 15th and 16th streets of New Colony and Ambal Nagar and also informed the residents about it. The five damaged poles along with power lines were replaced and the power supply was restored on Sunday night. 

Social activist V. Santhanam appreciated the maintenance staff for the efficient restoration of power supply.  He also thanked the local assistant engineer of Chromepet electricity office for informing residents about the disruption to power supply from early Sunday morning.
