India Meteorological Department issued a weather alert on Monday (September 1, 2025) afternoon placing four districts under orange alert: Bhadradri Kothagudem, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, and Peddapalli are very likely to receive receive heavy to very heavy rainfall from the afternoon to Tuesday morning (8.30 a.m.)

And, heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places in Adilabad, Hanumakonda, Jagtial, Karimnagar, Khammam, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mahabubabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, and Warangal. In Hyderabad, light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied with gusty winds (30-40 kmph) are very likely. 

A fresh monsoon low

Earlier in the day, head of Meteorological Centre in Hyderabad, K Nagarathna, said that Northwest Bay is likely to see a fresh monsoon low in the next 12 to 36 hours. Under its influence, parts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States are likely to receive widespread heavy or very heavy rains. In particular, northern parts of Telangana adjoining central India may be more vulnerable to flooding from Godavari and its tributaries, she said. 

The highest rainfall in the State from the morning to 1.00 p.m. was only 36.8 mm in Medak, according to Telangana Development Planning Society. 

Tuesday forecast

Seven more districts were placed under orange from Tuesday morning to Wednesday morning. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at isolated places in Bhadradri Kothagudem, Hanumakonda, Jagtial, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Karimnagar, Khammam, Mahabubabad, Mulugu, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Peddapalli, Rajanna Sircilla, and Warangal.
