The ways to improve civic infrastructure and streamline regulatory processes were discussed at the sixth monthly meeting of Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India (CREDAI), Visakhapatnam Chapter, in Visakhapatnam, on Monday (September 1, 2025).
Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) Commissioner Ketan Garg, who attended the meeting as the chief guest, assured the members that their concerns would be addressed on a priority.
CREDAI chairman V. Dharmender, president E. Ashok Kumar and secretary V. Sreenu highlighted the grievances, including the processing of RTS applications filed under the Right to Services (RTS) Act within the mandated 15 days. They requested quicker post-verification, standardised documentation for approvals, and acceptance of single Town Surveyor remarks for different purposes instead of insisting on TS remarks for each purpose.
Other points discussed included the need for property tax assessment, water and UGD connections, occupancy certificate approval, quicker approvals for Road Development Plans (RDP) under the Master Plan 2041, and smoother procedures for Transferable Development Rights (TDRs).
The CREDAI members highlighted the importance of strengthening basic civic amenities such as underground drainage, sewage treatment, street lighting, and municipal water supply in rapidly developing areas in the city such as MVP Colony, Yendada, Madhurawada and other suburbs.
The Municipal Commissioner announced that GVMC was introducing a software-driven mechanism to clear RTS applications within two days.
The dashboard would provide updated information on the approval process and the system would be contactless to eliminate middlemen, he added.
Referring to the RDP approvals, Mr. Garg assured that steps were being taken to resolve the issue quickly. He assured that all RDP plans would be uploaded online to ensure transparency and faster processing.
Encouraging continuous dialogue, Mr. Garg suggested that monthly meetings whould be held between CREDAI members and GVMC officials, along with zonal-level reviews, to resolve issues more effectively at the local level.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both CREDAI and GVMC reaffirming their commitment to working together for smoother approvals, improved civic facilities, and sustainable growth of Visakhapatnam.
