Telangana government intends to attract international attention to the Bathukamma – the floral festival unique to the State. It plans to hold celebration the nine-day long festival in air, on land and water. 

Bathukamma welcome dance would be performed on flights from Delhi, Mumbai headed to Hyderabad; people from other States living in the city would be made part of the celebrations and over 10,000 women would participate in the celebrations at L.B. Stadium aiming for Guinness World Record. 

Besides this, Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao announced on Monday (September 1, 2025) that various programmes would be organised from September 21-30. Plans were charted to hold events in Telangana on the lines of the prominent Rio Carnival held in Brazil annually. He said that they want to introduce international tourists to the uniqueness of the festivals and culture of the State. 

Mr. Rao said that they have entered into agreements with some airlines for national-level promotion. The welcome dance on flights from Delhi, Mumbai to Hyderabad would be organised from September 21-30. The inflight magazines in Air India, Indigo too would be utilised for the promotions. 

The celebrations would begin at the thousand pillar temple in Hanumakonda on September 21. Floating Bathukamma programme on Hussain Sagar in the city would be one of the attractions.

Dates: September 21-30

September 22-24: Everyday, celebrations would be held at important temples and tourist spots in three to four districts

Celebrations in Hyderabad

September 27: Bathukamma carnival evening at Tank Bund

September 28: Celebrations aiming for Guinness world record

September 29: Bathukamma competition at People’s Plaza

September 29: Competitions for IT employees and Resident Welfare Associations (RWA)

September 30: Grand floral parade and Holi at Tank Bund
