The Railway Board has sanctioned ₹75 lakh for the upgradation of the Haripad railway station. K.C. Venugopal, MP, said that a detailed estimate regarding the utilisation of the sanctioned amount would be prepared and the tender process would be initiated. “The project mainly involves renovation works, including raising the height of the second platform, concreting it and laying tiles. The sanctioned funds will be utilised for construction and renovation works required to improve passenger amenities,” Mr. Venugopal said.
The Alappuzha MP said the poor condition of Haripad station had been brought to the attention of the Railway Ministry and the Railway Board on several occasions. “The amount sanctioned is limited. Continuous efforts will be made to secure additional funds for infrastructure development,” he added.
