British Airways on Friday announced a complementary student travel assistance programme for Indians traveling for the upcoming admission season to the U.K.
The free dedicated service for students will include a range of benefits including a dedicated check-in desk, wayfinding details through the airport, and transfer guidance on arrival at Heathrow Terminal 5, the airline said in a statement.
The service will be available at all the five Indian airports the airline operates flights out of, that is, Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chennai. British Airways operates 56 flights a week from these airports. The service will be operational from August 29, 2025 to October 31, 2025.
Data for the first six months of 2025 shows Indians accounted for 24% of the total international students in the U.K., with 98,014 visas issued, and constituted the second largest group after Chinese students whose numbers were marginally higher at 99,919 visas. However, there has been a consistent decline in their intake in the recent years following stricter visa norms. Half yearly 2025 figure for Indian students issued study visas is a decline of 11% over the same period in 2024. New immigration curbs in the U.K. foreign postgraduate students on non-research courses will not be able to bring dependents . The application processes have been made more stringent, and the post-study work period has also been reduced from 24 months to 18 months.
