In a respite to BJP MLA Munirathna, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed to probe his alleged crimes, has filed a B report in a case where the MLA was accused of gang rape, saying allegations against the MLA in this case were false.

In this case, a 40-year-old woman, in her complaint to the RMC Yard Police on May 20, had accused Munirathna of orchestrating a gang-rape through his associates and injecting her with a deadly virus. The woman alleged she was hospitalised in January 2025 and discovered that she had contracted a virus. Depressed at what had happened to her, she popped pills on May 19 and fell ill, the FIR noted.

However, the investigation found no contact between the complainant and the MLA and found no evidence to substantiate the allegations made, leading the police to file a B report in the case.

Responding to the development, Mr. Munirathna claimed this had exposed a conspiracy against him. “After Dr. C.N. Manjunath won from Bangalore Rural in the 2024 Lok Sabha election, cases were filed against me. The B report shows that truth has prevailed. Making women file false complaints must stop,” he said.

However, the SIT has already filed a charge sheet against him in another rape case, registered at Kaggalipura, the first case registered against the MLA, leading to the formation of the SIT. Yet another charge sheet has also been filed against him in a case related to hurling casteist abuses at a man belonging to the Scheduled Caste.
