Two thousand control units and 2,120 voter-verifiable paper audit trail (VVPAT) machines, brought from Bharat Electronics Limited, Bengaluru, were kept in safe custody at the electronic voting machine warehouse in Chintadripet on Wednesday, as directed by the Election Commission.
The machines were placed in the presence of representatives of recognised political parties, according to a press release.
The release said the storage was supervised by Additional District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner (Revenue and Finance) M. Birathiviraj and District Revenue Officer (Elections) G. Saravanamurthy.
“All safety protocols were followed during the placement of the machines. The arrangements were part of the preparatory work for the conduct of elections in Chennai, a release said.
