The Special Investigation Team (SIT), which is probing the Dharmasthala case, on Thursday questioned activist T. Jayanth over his association with the 45-year-old complainant.
During the questioning, the complainant had told SIT that he stayed for a few days at the house of Mr. Jayanth in Bengaluru, before moving to New Delhi, along with Mr. Jayanth, and then coming to Belthangady to file the complaint.
The SIT has searched the house of Mr. Jayanth in Bengaluru and recovered some incriminating material related to the case. On Thursday, the SIT questioned Mr. Jayanth all through the day.
Meanwhile, the Belthangady police on Thursday carried out a search at the rented house of YouTuber M.D. Sameer in Bengaluru in connection with case registered against him on July 12. He was accused of using imaginary facts on Dharmasthala case to create a video, using AI tools, and instigating people to revolt by sharing it on social media.
The police seized some incriminating material from Mr. Sameer’s house.
