The Alangulam police have arrested a youth for allegedly printing counterfeit notes.
Police said hotel worker Manikanda Prabhu, 26, of Alangulam had borrowed money from his friend Murugan. When he repaid the money, Mr. Murugan deposited it in the cash deposit machine, which rejected it as the notes were counterfeit.
Based on the complaint from Mr. Murugan, the Alangulam police conducted surprise check in Manikanda Prabhu’s house from where they seized a photocopier, stamps and fake notes worth ₹7,000 in the denomination of ₹500.
During investigation, police found that Manikanda Prabhu was printing the fake notes with the photocopier for the past six months.
Further investigations are on to nab the accomplices of Manikanda Prabhu.
