Officials from the City Task Force (CTF), Visakhapatnam, on Saturday apprehended two remand prisoners who had escaped from the Chodavaram sub-jail on August 5. They were later handed over to the Anakapalli district police.

The fugitives, Nakka Ravi Kumar and Bezawada Ramu, allegedly attacked a jail warden shortly after completing their kitchen duty. Using a hammer taken from the warden’s desk, they struck him on the head and overpowered him. They then took the keys from his pocket to unlock the jail gates before fleeing. Both men had been in custody on theft charges.

After the escape, the CTF formed four special teams that carried out checks at bus stations, railway stations, and other key locations. The duo was eventually tracked down and arrested near the RTC Complex.
