Telangana Jagruthi president K. Kavitha, who recently resigned from the MLC post after her suspension from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), asserted that Jagruthi would continue its fight until BCs secure 42% reservation in local bodies, education and employment. Several Backward Classes (BC) leaders joined the movement at the Jagruthi office in Banjara Hills here on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Kavitha recalled that though the Assembly and Council had passed bills increasing BC reservations to 42%, the government failed to pursue them with the Centre or the Governor. âChief Minister Revanth Reddy neither took an all-party delegation to the Prime Minister nor explored legal options when the Governor stalled the bills. Instead, the government is resorting to appeasement politics in the name of amending laws,â she said.
She criticised the Congress government for attempting to conduct local body polls without implementing the Kamareddy Declaration, accusing it of reneging on its promise of enhanced reservations.
Those who joined include former GHMC corporator Gopu Sadanandam, State president of the Nomadic Tribes Association Kola Srinivas and Are Katika Sangam leader Surender, along with their followers.
