A 33-year-old man drowned when he was trying to immerse a Ganesh idol in Belagavi on Saturday night. He was identified as Rahul Byakwadkar of Vaddarawadi. He slipped and fell into the Jakkeri honda (tank) in Tilakwadi.
He was carrying a small idol in his hand and was moving into the water to immerse it. However, he slipped and fell into the water.
Other members of the crowd pulled him out after a few minutes and rushed him to BIMS Hospital. But he was declared dead.
