The Pothencode police apprehended a 59-year-old man for allegedly murdering his son following an argument on Sunday.
The accused, Unnikrishnan, was detained in connection with the murder of 35-year-old Ullas, a tipper lorry driver, who hailed from Ulloorkonam near Kazhakuttom, in his home during the early hours of the day.
Ullas, who was found lying in a pool of blood, suffered a deep wound to the chest. The incident is suspected to have taken place when the duo were under the influence of alcohol. Their families were not present when the incident took place.
While Unnikrishnan initially denied any involvement, he claimed that another person had entered the house and committed the crime. However, after a thorough investigation by the police, including the review of CCTV footage from the residence, the father later confessed to the crime in the evening. He will be presented before the court on Monday, the police stated.
