The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has deployed over 15,000 sanitation workers for an intensified clean-up operation following the Ganesh festival celebrations.

GHMC said more than 11,200 tonnes of excess garbage generated during the festival have already been shifted to the Jawahar Nagar processing facility.

The corporation, which played a central role in facilitating the smooth conduct of idol installations, processions, and immersions has now turned its focus to restoring the city’s cleanliness. The sanitation drive covers procession routes, installation sites, immersion points and lake shores.

The massive exercise is being personally monitored by GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan and Additional Commissioner Raghu Prasad. The corporation said its staff are working round the clock to ensure that the city is returned to its normal state without delay.

Officials emphasised that all collected waste is being handled responsibly to maintain environmental balance. GHMC described its role during the festival as not only managing civic responsibilities but also supporting the continuation of tradition in a safe and orderly manner.

The corporation said the intensified sanitation drive will continue until all immersion-related waste is cleared from the city.
