The sixth Judicial Magistrate First Class court, Mangaluru, has found Jabbar Ansari guilty of allowing his minor son to ride his two-wheeler. The court imposed a penalty of ₹27,500 against him.
According to the chargesheet, the Bajpe police were checking vehicles on August 25 when they found a minor boy riding a scooter at the Bajpe market with two persons riding pillion.
A probe revealed that Ansari had allowed his son to ride the two-wheeler. The police registered a case against Ansari for offences under Sections 199 A (guardian of the juvenile or owner of the vehicle to be held guilty for offence), 194 C (violation of safety rules by motorcycle riders), 194 D (riding motorcycle without protective headgear), and 130 read with Section 177 of Motor Vehicles Act.
After Ansari pleaded guilty of the offences, the court on September 3 imposed a penalty of ₹25,000 for the offence under Section 199 A. It imposed a fine of ₹1,000 each for offences under Section 194 C and 194 D. It imposed a penalty of ₹500 for offences under Section 130, read with Section 177, of the MV Act.
In default of payment of fine amount, Ansari shall undergo simple imprisonment of three days for each of the four offences, the Magistrate said.
