Svarnim Puducherry, a unit of Sri Aurobindo Society, participated in the first national Changemakers’ meet held in Banaskantha, Gujarat recently.
Organised by the National Changemakers’ Meet Network, Banas Dairy, and India Foundation from September 4 to 7, the gathering witnessed the participation of 51 changemakers from 27 States across the country, creating a platform to exchange innovative ideas, collaborate on transformative projects, and strengthen the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
According to a press note, Svarnim Puducherry’s initiative, ‘Eco Thozhi – Women Empowerment through Livelihood using Water Hyacinth’, received recognition at the meet. This project enables rural women to transform the invasive water hyacinth plant into value-added handicraft products, providing them with sustainable livelihood opportunities, financial independence, and social empowerment.
Eco Thozhi also contributes to climate change mitigation and ecological balance.
According to a spokesperson of Svarnim Puducherry, the meet not only acknowledged the impactful contributions of grassroots changemakers but also created a network of ongoing support, encouragement, and partnerships to amplify their work nationwide. The meet has also opened up opportunities for collaboration and knowledge-sharing.
