After making a strong pitch for a greenfield highway connecting the upcoming Bharat Future City in Telangana with Machilipatnam port in Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has underscored the need for an exclusive railway line for the Telangana industrial sector.
The Chief Minister favoured the new railway line to be operated between Bharat Future City and Machilipatnam port aligning with the greenfield highway he had mooted to facilitate exports from the State to other parts of the country and abroad. This was in addition to the regional ring rail — a railway line adjoining the Regional Ring Road (RRR) whose development is underway.
The Chief Minister revealed his plans during a meeting in Hyderabad on Thursday (September 11, 2025) to review the ongoing and proposed railway sector projects in the State. The officials concerned were directed to keep the future needs in view in the proposals for new railway lines in different parts of the State.
Bullet train between Shamshabad and Chennai
Efforts should be made to put in place for bullet train connectivity between Shamshabad and Chennai and officials should study the scope for introducing new railway connectivity for the same. The proposed railway line would reduce the distance between the two destinations. Officials concerned were directed to speed up the process for commencement of Vikarabad-Krishna new railway line.
