Rain relentless in Kerala, holiday declared for educational institutions in 9 districts
Kerala remains on alert with southwest monsoon rainfall continuing to batter most districts. A holiday has been declared for educational institutions in Kasaragod, Kannur, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Malappuram, Thrissur, Ernakulam, Idukki and Kottayam on Monday as a precautionary measure.
District administrations have advised the public to stay away from waterbodies, river banks, and beaches. The coastal areas of Ernakulam district continued to be battered by the invading tidal waves for the third day running on Sunday. The Kottayam district administration has banned mining operations till June 17.
