Importance of maintaining toilet cleanliness stressed

The importance of keeping toilets clean and maintaining them was emphasised at the Government Girls Higher Secondary School in Bhavani.

In the first phase of its initiative to construct toilets in schools, the Olirum Erodu Foundation constructed new toilet facilities at the school at a cost of ₹12.70 lakh. The school has approximately 1,500 students.

At a recent function held on the school premises, the foundation’s trustees conducted an awareness camp for the students, highlighting the importance of maintaining toilet cleanliness. Two students from each class were selected during the camp and, along with a few teachers and parents, a pledge was taken to take responsibility for maintaining the new facilities properly.

District Chief Educational Officer K. Subbarao presided over the function. Foundation trustees K.K.S.K. Rafiq and A. Yogesh Kumar; Bhavani Municipality chairperson E. Sinduri; vice-chairman Mani; councillor G. Saravanan; Headmistress P. Ananthi; Parents-Teachers Association president Thirumalaisamy and School Management Committee member Kathirvel were also present.
