Kanniyakumari District SP R. Stalin on Monday handed over to the owners 335 stolen mobile phones worth ₹58 lakh recovered by the police.
Speaking on the occasion, he said the police had recovered ₹2.05 crore-worth 1,265 stolen mobile phones since January and returned to the rightful owners. The police had to even travel to various States to recover the mobile phones after ascertaining the location.
The SP said that in the event of loss of their mobile phones, the owners should register their online complaints via Department of Telecommunication’s Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) through https: //www.ceir.gov.in/
Moreover, the owners can also register their complaints with the police station concerned or https://eservices.tnpolice.gov.in
The SP, while urging the public to buy the mobile phones after verifying the sellers’ genuineness, also warned the traders against buying the stolen mobile phones for making huge profit by selling it to their customers.
