3.25 lakh voters removed from draft electoral roll in Erode district

District Election Officer and District Collector S. Kandasamy has said that a total of 3,25,429 voters (16.30%) were not included in the draft electoral roll due to reasons such as duplicate registration, untraceable voters, deceased voters, lack of proper address, and shifting to other locations.

Mr. Kandasamy released the draft electoral roll for the eight Assembly constituencies in the district at the Collectorate in the presence of representatives of various recognised political parties here on Friday.

Addressing the media, he said that prior to the commencement of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, there were 19,97,189 electors as on October 27, 2025. Following the distribution and receipt of enumeration forms from voters, the draft roll now contains 16,71,760 electors, comprising 8,06,914 male voters, 8,64,682 female voters, and 164 third-gender voters.

The constituency-wise elector count is as follows: Erode (East) – 1,65,510; Erode (West) – 2,30,723; Modakkurichi – 1,98,932; Perundurai – 2,04,985; Bhavani – 2,14,272; Anthiyur – 1,99,285; Gobichettipalayam – 2,31,164; and Bhavanisagar – 2,26,889.

Mr. Kandasamy said voters could verify their names on the website www.elections.tn.gov.in. Electors whose names figured in the rolls in 2025, but are not included in the draft roll can visit www.erolls.tn.gov.in/asd and search their names using their EPIC number in the Absentee, Shifted and Dead (ASD) list, which contains the names removed from the draft roll.

Such electors may submit Form 6, along with copies of any one of the 13 documents prescribed by the Election Commission, for inclusion in the electoral roll. Requests for inclusion, deletion, or correction of entries can also be made through www.voters.eci.gov.in, the Voters Helpline App, or by submitting forms to Booth Level Officers with the required documents. Applications can be submitted till January 18, 2026, he added.

Further, when the details of the current voters were compared with those of the Special Intensive Revision last conducted in 2002, 46,400 voters (2.32%) were identified as having mismatched particulars. Enquiry notices have been issued to these voters, and after due verification by the Electoral Registration Officer and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers, their names will be included in the electoral roll. The final electoral roll will be published on February 17, 2026, he said.

Mr. Kandasamy also stated that based on the bifurcation of polling stations with more than 1,200 voters among the existing 2,222 polling stations, and the reorganisation of polling stations located in damaged or non-functional buildings, a total of 157 new polling stations have been created. Consequently, the number of polling stations in the district has increased to 2,379, functioning from 984 locations, he added.
