Absconding POCSO case accused nabbed in Odisha

More than a month after a POCSO case accused hailing from Odisha escaped from custody in Pudukottai, a special police team nabbed him in that State and got him remanded in judicial custody here on Tuesday.

The accused K. Mahendra Kamanga (23) of Rayagada district was arrested last month by the Alangudi All Women Police Station under the POCSO Act. He was remanded to judicial custody. The accused escaped from custody on December 9 before he was lodged in the Pudukottai District Jail.

A case was registered in this connection at the Pudukottai Town police station and a manhunt was launched to track the whereabouts of the absconding accused. Police sources said a special team caught the accused in Odisha and brought him to the Pudukottai Town police station.

Mahendra Kamanga was produced before the Court and remanded in judicial custody. He was lodged in the Pudukottai District Jail, the sources added.
