An army personnel J. Selvapandian, 23, and his relative S. Arun, 30, of Periyampatti were killed in a road accident in Usilampatti on Thursday night.
The police said that Selvapandian, who is a soldier under Agnipath programme in Indian Army, had been posted in Assam.
The soldier who had come on holiday to his native place went to Madurai with Arun on a motorbike.
While returning home on the bike, Arun, who was riding the bike, attempted to overtake some vehicle near PMT College on Madurai-Usilampatti highway.
However, his bike collided with a truck and both of them were killed. Usilampatti Town police are investigating.
In an unrelated case, R. Gokul Raj, 19, of Madurai was killed in a hit-and-run case at Vadipatti reported on Wednesday.
The police said that some unidentified vehicle had knocked down the motorbike of Gokul Raj while he was riding the bike on Dindigul-Madurai highway.
Vadipatti police are investigating.
