With only two days left for Gruha Jyothi door-to-door survey to complete, around 5.5 lakh beneficiaries in Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (Bescom) have failed to submit required documents or refused to provide personal details during the survey.
Officials in the Energy department said that a second round of verification would be launched for these 5.5 lakh beneficiaries.
A senior official from the Bescom, said, “A total of 68.86 lakh Gruha Jyothi beneficiaries are in the Bescom jurisdiction. We have completed around 99% households survey so far. Out of these, 5.5 lakh beneficiaries have either failed to provide documents like Aadhaar, Voter ID or refused to provide them. So our staff will go to their doorstep for second round of verification so that they don’t loose their benefits.”
Meanwhile, Gaurav Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary, said, “We were planning to bring changes at the policy level for those who were not able to provide details for various reasons. It might be absence of required documents like Aadhaar card, Voter ID, etc. They will be verified in the second round of door-to-door survey.”
