The 3 Karnataka Girls Battalion NCC organised an awareness rally here on Tuesday to mark the sixth anniversary of the “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan”, spreading the message of a drug-free society among the public.
The rally, held from the NCC office at Ramaswamy Circle, was conducted under the guidance of Commanding Officer Col. CPS Semwal. A total of 133 NCC cadets from St. Joseph’s First Grade College, Jayalakshmipuram, Maharani’s Science College for Women and Rotary Midtown Academy, Hootagalli, participated in the programme.
As part of the awareness drive, the cadets staged a street play highlighting the harmful effects of drug abuse and addiction. The programme sought to sensitise the public, particularly youngsters, to the dangers associated with substance abuse.
The rally was supported by Subedar Major V.K. Mishra, Lt. Jyoti Deepa, Second Officer Meena A. Murthy, Senior GCI Lekshmi Das, GCI K. Divya Suresh, PI staff and NCC cadets.
The programme concluded with the participants taking a pledge to contribute towards building a drug-free India and promoting a healthier and stronger society.
