Deputy Inspector General (Anantapur) Shemushi and Sri Sathya Sai District Superintendent of Police (SP) S. Satish Kumar on Wednesday directed the police personnel of all sub-divisions to prepare a foolproof security plan to ensure peaceful, transparent and impartial conduct of upcoming local body elections.
Addressing the election preparedness meeting here, the officials assessed the law and order situation, pending cases, arrests, crimes against women and girls, social media, political, and SC/ST atrocities cases.
The DIG ordered identification of faction-affected, problematic villages and areas with past poll violence to implement special measures. Sub Divisional police officials must personally visit all villages, prepare lists of polling stations, wards, gram panchayats and sensitive, hyper-sensitive areas in coordination with Revenue officials, and crackdown on illicit liquor and belt shops, she said.
Meanwhile, the SP highlighted continuous surveillance on rowdy-sheeters, old criminals, and problematic persons. He also urged to monitor those involved in previous election offences, carry out speedy execution of pending arrests and NBWs, and initiation of binding over process, externment and PD Act against defaulters.
Mr. Satish Kumar called for impartial and responsible policing without yielding to pressure, to prioritise the investigation of crimes against women and girls, and to expedite grave, non-grave, and property cases
