Postal department to recruit branch postmasters, others

The Postal Department has invited applications for the posts of Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM) and Dak Sevaks.

The online applications with a fee can be submitted till February 16, 2026. Log on to https://indiapost.gov.in/gdsonlineengagement.

There are 22 vacant posts in the Mangaluru Division, which will be filled through the online engagement process.

The job profile of a BPM includes managing the affairs of the GDS Branch Post Office located in rural and suburban areas. The duties of the BPM will include providing postal services like the booking and dispatch of ordinary post articles, Speed Post articles, managing and overseeing services like the Post Office Savings Bank, India Post Payments Bank, Rural Postal Life Insurance, Postal Life Insurance and any other services assigned by the Postal Department. He or she will work for either 4 or 5 hours, depending on the workload.

The duties of an ABPM will include mainly conveyance and delivery of mails at doorsteps.

The job profile of a Dak Sevak includes performing packer duties like closing and opening of bags or conveyance and delivery of mails at doorsteps in departmental post offices.
