A private firm was fined ₹5,000 for allegedly dumping wood waste in a stream at Ganapathi Nagar within the limits of the Erode Corporation.

Residents had complained to Corporation officials that waste was being dumped along the road abutting a canal, and in the stream, polluting the water bodies. Following the complaints, Corporation officials intensified surveillance in the area. During an inspection, they found wood waste being transported in a goods vehicle and dumped in the stream.

Corporation health officer Thangaraj, health inspector Arun and other officials intercepted the vehicle and conducted an inquiry. They found that the wood waste belonged to a private firm. The officials subsequently imposed a fine of ₹5,000 on the firm.
