A day after a nine-year-old boy allegedly ended his life at his residence in Chandanagar, the police on Wednesday (December 17, 2025) said preliminary inquiries suggest that the child may have been distressed over unmet demands for money and new school uniform.
The deceased was a Class IV student of Krishnaveni Talent School in Chandanagar. He was found unresponsive in the washroom of his residence near Rajinder Reddy Colony on Tuesday, December 16, at around 5.30 p.m., after which the incident was reported to the police.
During inquiries with family members and relatives, the police learnt that the child had been asking his parents for ₹100 over the past two days, which the parents did not give him. The boy’ sparents had also recently bought him a new pair of shoes, following which he asked for a new school uniform as well. “His parents had told him that they would buy the uniform later,” said an official from the Chandanagar police.
The official added that the child was academically bright and a topper in his class, and there was no indication of academic pressure or reprimand from school or family members.
A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
