Will not allow BJP to create communal disharmony in T.N., says Stalin

Chief Minister M. K. Stalin on Friday said he would not allow the BJP to succeed in its attempt “to create communal disharmony” in Tamil Nadu.

“As long as Stalin and the ‘Dravidian Model’ government are there, the BJP will never succeed in its attempts to create communal disharmony in the State. People will chase them with votes,” he said after inaugurating the Integrated Collectorate complex at Veeracholapuram near Kallakurichi. added.

Adverting to various achievements made by Tamil Nadu, he said these denoted a developed India. On the other hand, he claimed, “the scenario is different in States ruled by the BJP where poverty, communal clashes, lynching, unemployment and attack on education remain.”

He alleged the BJP has created a situation where even children and differently-abled persons were attacked during Christmas. The Chief Minister charged, it is this model the BJP is trying to introduce in the State but the people of Tamil Nadu are very cautious.

Against the backdrop of the recent row over lighting of the Karthigai Deepam, Mr Stalin said devotees of Lord Muruga offer worship at the [Sultan Sikkandar Avulia] dargah atop the Thirupparankundram hillock while “Muslim brothers” offer rose milk to Hindus during the Chithirai festival in Madurai and Christians offer Pongal during the first day of the Tamil month Thai. “The unity and harmony of Tamil Nadu’s people—who affirm that every religion is equally acceptable—is what keeps pricking the eyes of the BJP, which wants to split the people by engaging in communal politics!” he said

Mr Stalin, who also laid the foundation stone for new projects worth ₹386.48 crore, said Tamil Nadu was numero uno State in the country in all sectors thanks to the work accomplished during the last four-and-a-half years of the ‘Dravidian Model’ government .

According to him, the previous AIADMK regime was not able to achieve even 5 % of the growth achieved by the current dispensation.

Mr. Stalin said that during the previous 10 years of AIADMK rule the State was in ruins. But the State has sprung back and it’s growth trajectory is on the upward trend during the Dravidian model government. “This is my open challenge. Can the AIADMK prove that they have achieved at least 5 % of what was accomplished by this government during their tenure?

Stating Tamil Nadu’s growth was unparalleled in the country, Mr. Stalin said it was the only State in India to achieve double-digit economic growth rate in real terms during 2024-25 at 11.19 %. The State has achieved all this without any support from the Centre.

Mr. Stain said that Tamil Nadu is the leader in the country whether it is in terms of Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP), automobile exports, electronics exports, non-leather footwear production, Startup rankings. Tamil Nadu also had the highest women workforce in India, he said.

“We have reached this place despite the Centre indulging in deceit and putting speed breakers to stop the State,” he said.

Mr. Stalin said his government focuses on the development of all sectors, districts, and sections of society, implementing schemes that aim not only to provide monetary benefits but also to achieve social benefits that enhance the quality of life. He said that the people’s verdict in the upcoming 2026 elections would be the crown for the achievements made during the four-and-a-half year rule of the ‘Dravidian Model’ government.
