Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Thursday inaugurated through videoconferencing urban and primary health centres in the district.
Ten urban health centre buildings and an additional primary health centre, two urban health centre buildings at Vickramasingapuram and Ambasamudram municipalities under Tirunelveli Corporation were inaugurated.
Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker M. Appavu, Collector R. Sukumar, Corporation Commissioner Monika Rana, Mayor G. Ramakrishnan, MLA M. Abdul Wahab, Deputy Mayor K.R. Raju and Chairman of Tirunelveli district panchayat V.S.R. Jegadeesh were present.
The Chief Minister also inaugurated the primary health centre at Udhayathur in Mr. Appavuâs Radhapuram constituency, which had been created on an outlay of âč1.20 crore. The PHC had obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatric, ENT and general medicine sections and had non-communicable diseases investigations, anti-rabies vaccine and treatment for snake bite.
Since the Udhayathur residents had to go all the way to Radhapuram, Koodankulam or Kallikulam for medical treatment, the PHC is expected to fulfil the medical needs of the people.
In Tenkasi district, the Chief Minister inaugurated a primary health centre at Keezhakkalangal under Veerakeralampudhur taluk.
Collector A.K. Kamal Kishore, MP Rani Srikumar and MLAs S. Palani Nadar and E. Raja visited the PHC built at a cost of âč1.20 crore.
âNearly 18,000 villagers living in Kurichaanpatti, Keezhakkalangal and Balapathraramapuram villages will be benefited through this PHC,â said Mr. Kamal Kishore.
