Two job fair gives offers to over 6,000 aspirants

Over 6,000 job-seekers got placed in two job fairs organised here on Saturday.

The job fair, jointly organised by Give Life Trust, The Rise, Thamizh Ezhumin Industrialists Confederation and a few more organisations at Francis Xavier Engineering College, Vannarpet, in Palayamkottai, attracted a few thousand students with diverse educational qualifications ranging from diploma, graduation to engineering from all southern districts.

More than 150 companies, including MRF, TVS Lucas, Tech Mahindra, Hyundai, Rane, Sriram Finance, Axis Bank, City Union Bank, Equitas Bank and companies involved in healthcare products manufacturing and life insurance, recruited candidates for more than 7,500 vacancies in their companies.

Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker M. Appavu and Minister for Municipal Administration K.N. Nehru and Minister for Higher Education Govi. Chezhiaan handed over the offer letters to the successful candidates.

Mr. Appavu said over 2.60 crore persons had got employed in the past four years as over 17.95 lakh micro, small and marginal manufacturing units, 32 industrial parks and 28 industrial estates had been created after Chief Minister M.K. Stalin assumed office in 2021.

Mr. Nehru said steps had been initiated to establish SIPCOT’s industrial estates at Nanguneri and Moolaikkaraipatti, which would create employment opportunities tfor skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled youth from the region.

Mr. Chezhiaan said 5,300 candidates of the 13,000 registered aspirants had got placed in this job fair.

District Collector R. Sukumar, Corporation Commissioner Monika Rana, Mayor G. Ramakrishnan, Palayamkottai MLA M. Abdul Wahab, Deputy Mayor K.R. Raju and former minister and one of the organisers of the job fair Poongothai Aladi Aruna, Rev. Fr. Jegath Gasper, and chairman of SCAD Group of Institutions S. Cletus Babu were present.

In the evening, 728 successful candidates received their letters in the job fair organised at Manonmaniam Sundaranar University.
