Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University (BRAOU) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Retail Sector Skill Council of India (RASCI) for ‘Stipend Based Apprenticeship Programme (SAP)‘ on its campus on Monday (July 7, 2025).

The MoU was signed by registrar L.Vijaya Krishna Reddy and James Raphael, executive director of RASCI, in the presence of Vice-Chancellor Ghanta Chakrapani.

As part of this programme, students will get a monthly stipend of ₹7,000 to ₹24,000. Those who have already completed their degree from the university are also eligible. The students aged between 18 to 28 are eligible to join this programme.

Mr. Raphaels said the programmes have been designed with the concept of Individual, Institution, Industry and India (Four-Is) and the curriculum will be a combination of educational journey combined with professional experience and understanding of academic theory along with practicality. He also assured that every student will be financially independent and empowered through this programme.

Sameer Narsapur, head (Standards & QA), RASCI and Chanda Vadde, general manager, Industry and Academia, RASCI (South Region) also spoke.
