Chennai Corporation cleans MGR Canal

Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) cleared garbage from the MGR canal at K.K. Salai in Kodambakkam zone by 11 a.m. on Friday after water entered Pachaiyappan Street following early morning rain, a press release said.

According to the release, residents reported around 7 a.m. that the street was flooded because waste had blocked the canal’s flow. The garbage accumulation in the MGR canal was caused by debris carried in by the rainwater. Once the waste was removed, the water stagnating on Pachaiyappan Street drained out, the release mentioned.
