Andhra Pradesh Home Minister V. Anitha criticised YSRCP former MLA Nallapareddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy for his alleged derogatory remarks against Kovur MLA Vemireddi Prasanthi Reddy.

Addressing the media in Bobbilli of Vizianagaram district on Tuesday, Ms. Anitha said that the YSRCP leaders must show the videos of the controversial comments to the female members in their families and ask the latter if those were acceptable.

Ms. Anitha alleged that the YSRCP leaders were repeatedly making defamatory remarks against women. She recalled a previous incident involving a TV journalist on a debate aired by a channel owned by YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, where offensive comments were made against women from the Amaravati region.

Instead of condemning those comments, YSRCP leader Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy reportedly supported them, she said.

“It is shameful that a seasoned politician like Mr. Prasanna Kumar Reddy is resorting to personal attacks against a woman MLA,” she said.

Ms. Anitha said that despite the poor show of the YSRCP in the last general election, its leaders have not learned any lesson.

The Home Minister questioned the silence of Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy, stating that the former Chief Minister not condemning such actions would encourage their members to make such remarks against women.
